SERVICES

Therapy

Nick offers therapeutic services as a Clinical Psychologist. He uses several modalities including Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Eye Movement Desensitization Reprocessing (EMDR) Therapy, and Ego State Therapy.

What is EMDR Therapy?

EMDR Therapy is based on the premise that many psychological difficulties are the result of unprocessed traumatic memories. These memories can cause negative emotions, beliefs, and sensations that become stuck in the brain, leading to ongoing distress and dysfunction in daily life. EMDR uses a phased approach, supporting the processing of memories and triggers.

What is Ego State Therapy?

Ego State Therapy is a therapeutic approach that explores and works with different parts, or "ego states," of an individual's personality. It helps clients identify these states to support internal communication, subsequently resolving inner conflict, and healing from past traumatic experiences.

The goal is to foster communication and cooperation between ego states, resolving conflicts and promoting internal harmony.

This therapy is particularly effective for addressing issues stemming from childhood experiences, trauma, and internal conflicts that may cause distress or dysfunction in adulthood. By integrating and balancing these ego states, individuals can achieve greater self-awareness, emotional regulation, and overall well-being. Ego State Therapy is also often integrated with EMDR Therapy.
